Baron Beach, Kukup Beach, Sepanjang Beach, Drini Beach, Krakal Beach, Slili and Ngandong Beach, Sundak Beach
Gunungkidul Regency has special tourism object, which are beach nature tourism object, as many as + 46 beaches, ranges as long as 70 km away on the south of Gunungkidul Regency starting from the west side to the east side, including one area, which consists of seven beaches that lie close together. The seven beaches are located in Tanjungsari and Tepus Sub-district, as far as 23-31 km and takes about 30 minutes journey from Wonosari City (the capital of Gunungkidul Regency). Beside their natural condition, each of the beaches has their own characteristics and uniqueness, which are :
1. Baron Beach
Baron Beach acts as a gate to enter the Beach Tourism Object area. This beach is s.jpg)
urrounded by limestone hills, with a path on it, where tourists can enjoy the beauty of the vast and typical sea. On the west there is a mouth of underground river (fresh water), so that there is a place where salt-water and fresh water meet. The special characteristic of Baron Beach is the plenty of various kinds of fresh fish and also seafood (fried, roasted, and steamed fish), including the special menu in Baron Beach, called Kakap fish soup with various prices. The fishermen societies organize a sea offering ceremony every Syuro month in Javanese calendar. This ceremony is held to express their gratitude to the God for the abundant fish and for the welfare in fishing. The facilities can be found in Baron Beach among others are medium-class hotels, restaurants, souvenirs kiosks, and also open stage for the tourism attractions on special events, a joglo open meeting hall and a Fish Public-Sale Center.
2. Kukup Beach
Kukup Beach is a beautiful large wiht sands beach. We can find various kind of colorful sea fishes sold by some trader along the beach or we can see them in the Sea Aquarium nearby. There is also a coral isle with a view post to enjoy the beauty of the sea. The facilities in Kukup Beach among other area meeting hall, tourism cottage, medium-class hotels, restaurant, souvenir kiosks, trader, seafood kiosks and fruit sellers. Fishermen societies also organize sea offering ceremony at the same time as the fishermen societies in Baron Beach.
3. Sepanjang Beach
Sepanjang Beach lies about 1 km on the east of Kukup Beach. Sepanjang Beach is a natural conservation beach because in certain time turtles use this beach for producing eggs.
4. Drini Beach
Drini Beach is a traditional fishermen harbor and a Fish Public Sale Center. There is also a coral isle. There are many Drini trees, which are believed can be used to avoid poisonous snakes. The facilities can be found in Drini Beach are traditional food and seafood restaurants.
5. Krakal Beach

Krakal Beach is a large and the longest beach among the other 7 beaches (of the same region) and lies about 2 km on the east of Drini Beach. The white sand sparkling along the beach is very ideal for tourists who want to enjoy the sea scenery while jogging or swimming in the sea and finding sea fishes with small nets sold nearby. On particular times there are tourism attractions on an open stage on the beach. The facilities can be found are medium-class hotels and also restaurants.
6. Slili and Ngandong Beaches.

beach + 500 m to the east we can see Sundak Beach. Slili Beach is also called “Watu Lawang” because there is an isle with a tunnel lika a door (lawang Javanese). Ngandong Beach also has its own beauty. Besides its natural condition, tours can do activities such as fishing, tracking from Slili to Sundak Beach, and also watching fishermen farmers finding seaweed around the beach. The facilities are a Fish Public Sale Center, a community off road’s rest hous called “CRAB RESORT” with a typical and nice building, and also mini off-road facility. Both beaches are very suitable for relaxing and weekend.
7. Sundak Beach
Sundak Beach is a beautiful beach. Besides its white sand, Sundak Beach also has many sea pandan trees along the beach, increasing the beach coolness. Not far from the beach, there is a fresh water source in a small cave, and is used by the nearby people to supply their drinking water. Beside its cool place, the beach is very suitable as a camping ground. The facilities are a small meeting hall, an open stage and also restaurants.
